I over-indexed on going fast at the start of this project. I’m creating my 3rd product on my journey to create four products in a year. This latest product is my most ambitious. It’s a productivity and health app aimed at helping people achieve stress-free productivity. If you’ve been following along, you know that I will not hit my end of June target. So I’m taking this opportunity to reset and focus on quality instead of speed.

Last week I took a step back to produce a Gantt chart that outlines everything I need to do. Similar to the backout calendar, it helps me keep track of dependencies and estimate how long things take. It keeps me honest about what I need to do.
Seeing all of my activities laid out in a Gantt chart reinforces the importance of each step. For example, I’m now doing a SwiftUI Bootcamp. It has 54 short videos. I’ll be done sometime in July. This step and the time it will take are necessary if I want to make substantial progress on developing the app.
Creating a Gantt chart allows me to be thoughtful about what activities are needed, in sequence, and how long each will take. It being expressed visually makes it clear the consequences of not completing a milestone.
Next is execution. I have a general plan laid out in a Gantt chart, which I’ll continue to update as I go along. Now I need to do the work.
